Indie Jam 2024 celebrates Southeast Asian indie games

Indie Jam 2024 returns to KL this weekend, spotlighting Southeast Asian indie games, developer panels, and a student game jam. Free entry for all!

Indie Jam is back for its second year, bringing together game developers and gaming enthusiasts from across Southeast Asia on 16th and 17th November 2024. Hosted by Malaysian event organizer THE MAGIC RAIN in collaboration with Xsolla Curine Academy, the event is set to highlight the growing talent in regional game development with a free-entry celebration of indie gaming. Taking place at KL Eco City, this year’s Indie Jam promises a robust lineup of activities designed to spotlight new games, foster learning, and promote community engagement.

Indie Jam 2024 offers more than just a gaming experience. The event begins with a week-long Student Game Jam, a unique opportunity for emerging game developers to refine their skills in creating and pitching new games. A special workshop, led by Xsolla Curine Academy, will launch the Student Game Jam, equipping participants with the tools to succeed. The game jam will conclude at Indie Jam, where participants will present their completed games to a panel of judges from local game studios, as well as to event attendees. The winner will be selected based on a combination of public votes and judges’ scores.

Highlighting Southeast Asian Indie Games

The focal point of Indie Jam 2024 is the Southeast Asian Indie Games Showcase, where attendees can experience a variety of indie games from around the region. Featuring both upcoming titles and student projects, the showcase allows gamers to try out unique creations and meet the developers behind them. To encourage maximum engagement, attendees who play multiple games can participate in the Stamp Rally, earning chances to win exclusive prizes.

In addition to hands-on game experiences, Indie Jam 2024 will host a series of industry panels and talks led by seasoned game developers, creators, and media figures. This year’s speakers aim to address some of the challenges impacting the global gaming industry while providing insights and advice for aspiring game developers. These sessions offer invaluable exposure to industry trends and practical knowledge for attendees aiming to embark on their own game development journey.
