Pet Lovers Centre kicks off sixth annual Pet Food Drive

Pet Lovers Centre launches “Pets Payung Pets” food drive, aiding rescue animals nationwide, 15 Nov–1 Dec. Support shelters with your donations!

After a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Pet Lovers Centre (PLC) is back with its highly anticipated 6th Annual Pet Food Drive. Themed “Pets Payung Pets”, the campaign aims to support the wellbeing of rescue animals and will run from 15 November to 1 December 2024.

“The initiative is like an umbrella protecting our furry friends from hunger and neglect. Much like how Malaysians ‘payung’ meals for friends, we aim to extend this act of kindness to animals in need,” shared Cody Ong, Marketing Manager of Pet Lovers Centre Malaysia.

The campaign encourages pet owners and animal lovers across Malaysia to contribute pet food donations that will be distributed to four organisations: Paws Animal Welfare Shelter, Homeless & Orphan Pets Exist (HOPE), Cat Beach Sanctuary, and Second Chance Animal Society. These groups have worked tirelessly to provide care and shelter to countless stray animals.

Introducing the Manja Gang

A special highlight of this year’s campaign is the debut of the Manja Gang, an endearing group of rescue animals representing the campaign’s mission of hope and protection.

“These rescue pets, each with their own unique stories, embody the spirit of ‘payung’—a reminder of the collective effort needed to support shelter animals,” said Ong.

  • Rambo: A curious puppy discovering the world with innocent wonder.
  • Oyen Angels: A mischievous trio of Malaysian oyen cats—Som, Komla, and Cheng Zir—ready to charm everyone.
  • Elvin: A paralysed senior dog who inspires with his resilience and quiet strength.
  • Cookie: A glamorous ex-heiress cat dreaming of life as an influencer.

These furry ambassadors encourage Malaysians to choose adoption over purchasing pets, giving homeless animals a chance at a better life.

How to Contribute

Contributing to Pets Payung Pets is straightforward. Donations can be made at any of the 60 Pet Lovers Centre outlets nationwide. The collected food will be evenly distributed to the beneficiary shelters to help cover feeding costs for the first half of 2025.

From small packets to bulk donations, every contribution matters. PLC offers a variety of subsidised pet food options, ensuring that supporters can give within their means.

“This campaign is about creating a meaningful impact this holiday season. Every bowl filled brings comfort, hope, and better health to these animals,” Ong added.

Making a ‘Paw-sitive’ Difference

Beyond donations, Pets Payung Pets serves as a reminder of the importance of kindness. Through simple acts, such as feeding a stray or choosing to adopt, Malaysians can make a significant difference in the lives of rescue animals.

Together, let’s ensure no furry friend goes unfed. This holiday season, join PLC in spreading joy and care through Pets Payung Pets—because every act of kindness leaves a lasting impact.
