Sukha Charity Fair 2024: A celebration of community spirit

The Sukha Charity Fair 2024, organized by the Bandar Utama Buddhist Society (BUBS), transformed the BU3 Community Centre into a vibrant gathering spot yesterday, 24 November. From 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, the event brought together families, volunteers, and visitors from all walks of life to support BUBS’s Dhammaduta activities, operational needs, and the maintenance of the Uttama Bodhi Vihara.

Food, Fun, and Festivities

The fair’s appeal lay in its diversity, offering over 50 stalls that showcased a tantalizing array of local delicacies. Attendees enjoyed dishes like Penang Asam Laksa, Char Koay Teow, Popiah, and Rojak, alongside sweet treats that satisfied every palate.

In addition to food, the event featured unique handicrafts and non-perishable goods, drawing steady crowds eager to shop for a cause. Meanwhile, the younger audience delighted in activities like face painting, henna hand painting, and giant bubbles. A standout attraction was the “Six Realms of Samsara” experience, creatively presented by BUBS’s Dhamma School students to blend fun with Buddhist teachings.

Music added to the lively ambiance, with Buddy Sings, a young Buddhist band, energizing the crowd with impromptu performances. Their uplifting songs became the day’s soundtrack, leaving attendees in high spirits.

Volunteerism and Unity

The event’s success was a result of tireless teamwork. Volunteers from St. John Ambulance, Scouts, and RELA joined BUBS committee members and supporters to ensure seamless operations. Their contributions ranged from guiding visitors to managing logistics and assisting at stalls, reflecting the essence of collective goodwill.
