Nigel Ng, the Malaysia-born comedian famously known as Uncle Roger, has officially opened the second branch of his fried rice restaurant, Fuiyoh! It’s Uncle Roger, at MyTOWN Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur. The grand opening on December 15, 2024, attracted fans and food enthusiasts alike, eager to experience the comedian’s signature culinary venture.
A Grand Celebration at MyTOWN
The opening ceremony was a lively affair, with fans donning Uncle Roger’s iconic orange polo shirts and a lion dance performance setting a festive mood. Nigel Ng, appearing as his Uncle Roger persona, delighted the crowd with a witty speech. In his humorous style, he quipped about competing with IKEA’s famous meatballs, drawing laughter from the audience.
The event also marked the launch of the Fuiyoh! POP-UP store, which will operate until December 20, offering limited-edition merchandise, including clothing and tote bags. Fans took the opportunity to grab exclusive Uncle Roger memorabilia alongside their fried rice orders.
Rapid Growth Across Klang Valley
Fuiyoh! It’s Uncle Roger has quickly established itself as a rising star in Malaysia’s food scene since the first outlet opened in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on September 11, 2024. Despite receiving mixed reviews initially, the restaurant’s tagline, “The best fried rice in town,” has drawn widespread attention from influencers and food critics.
The second outlet at MyTOWN signifies the brand’s ambitious expansion. A third branch is set to open on December 21 at IPC Shopping Centre in Petaling Jaya, with a soft launch starting December 16. The fourth location at Central i-City in Shah Alam is slated for January 11, 2025, as the brand continues to cater to its growing customer base across the Klang Valley.
Enhancing the Customer Experience
In response to customer feedback, Fuiyoh! It’s Uncle Roger has introduced new menu items such as Gourmet Chicken Sausages and Deep Fried Prawns, along with upcoming festive specials to be announced on social media. The restaurant has also revised its pricing structure to make meals more affordable and increased rice portions to meet customer expectations.
Fuiyoh! It’s Uncle Roger plans extend beyond Kuala Lumpur, with outlets in Johor Bahru and Penang on the horizon. Long-term goals include expanding internationally, targeting markets in India, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore.
Supporting Local Communities
As part of its community outreach, Fuiyoh! has partnered with the Autism Cafe Project (ACP) to sell ACP’s cookies at its outlets. All proceeds from these sales will support ACP’s initiatives, including its catering business and the development of group homes for individuals with autism.
With a mix of comedy, culinary excellence, and meaningful community partnerships, Nigel Ng’s Fuiyoh! brand is well on its way to becoming a household name in Malaysia and beyond.
