Luckin Coffee makes its Malaysian debut with two outlets

Luckin Coffee has officially launched in Malaysia with two outlets, aiming to revolutionize the local coffee scene with its tech-driven experience

Luckin Coffee, China’s number one coffee brand, has officially arrived in Malaysia with the opening of its first two outlets at Sunway Pyramid and Menara EcoWorld in Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC), Kuala Lumpur.

The soft opening marks the beginning of Luckin Coffee’s ambitious plans to expand its presence in the country, following its successful foray into Singapore. Malaysia is now the second country outside of China to welcome the brand, with a total of five outlets expected to launch by the end of January.

Expansion Plans for the Malaysian Market

As part of its strategy to establish a strong foothold in Malaysia, Luckin Coffee has revealed plans to open five outlets across the country by the end of the month. These initial openings, located at Sunway Pyramid and Menara EcoWorld, serve as a testing ground for the brand to engage with customers and refine its operations based on feedback. With the rapid expansion, the coffee giant aims to capture a significant share of Malaysia’s growing coffee culture, offering a fresh, tech-driven coffee experience to local consumers.

Luckin Coffee aims to revolutionise Malaysia’s coffee landscape by offering a world-class experience infused with cutting-edge technology and innovation. The brand’s tech-driven business model is designed to deliver a distinctive coffee experience, setting it apart from traditional coffee outlets in the market.

Luckin Coffee App

To complement its physical stores, Luckin Coffee has introduced a new app that is set to redefine how Malaysians experience their daily coffee. The Luckin Coffee app allows customers to pre-order their drinks and make cashless payments, ensuring a seamless and hassle-free coffee experience. The app’s user-friendly interface also allows for easy customization of drinks, enabling customers to enjoy their perfect brew with minimal effort.

As part of its launch, the app is offering a special promotion where new users can grab their first coffee for only RM2.99, along with a welcome pack filled with exclusive perks. The app is now available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, further emphasizing the company’s commitment to providing tech-driven convenience for its customers.

Strategic Partnership with Hextar Industries

Luckin Coffee’s Malaysian expansion has been made possible through a strategic partnership with Hextar Industries, a Bursa Malaysia-listed firm. In November 2024, Hextar’s subsidiary, Global Aroma Sdn Bhd, entered into an exclusive agreement with Luckin Coffee Singapore to develop and operate Luckin Coffee outlets across Malaysia.

Jeff Lim Chee Lip, CEO of Global Aroma, expressed his excitement about introducing Luckin’s unique coffee culture to Malaysian consumers. “We are thrilled to begin our journey in Malaysia with this soft opening, offering customers a first look at Luckin Coffee’s unique coffee culture. This is an opportunity to engage with our customers and perfect our operations to meet local tastes and preferences,”he said.

As Luckin Coffee seeks to build a loyal customer base in Malaysia, the company is focusing on creating a brand experience that blends high-quality coffee with cutting-edge technology. With the combination of smart app features, convenient pre-ordering, and a rapidly growing footprint, Luckin Coffee aims to revolutionize Malaysia’s coffee culture and offer something truly unique to local consumers.
