The Great British Circus (GBC) captivated audiences during the premiere of its limited-run “London Musical Show” at Auto-City, Juru, on January 23.

Among the delighted attendees were 37 children from Shan’s Children Home Seberang Perai and the Welfare Association for the Mentally Retarded Children Seberang Perai Tengah.

This heartwarming initiative underscores the Great British Circus’ commitment to inclusivity, as it treated these children to a memorable evening filled with music, dance, and world-class circus performances.

The event kicked off with Penang’s State Social Development, Welfare and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman, Lim Siew Khim, officiating the occasion.

During her speech, Lim praised the Great British Circus for its exemplary corporate social responsibility (CSR).

“Initiatives like these exemplify the spirit of CSR, which is vital for creating a more compassionate society,” she said.

Lim also encouraged more businesses to follow GBC’s lead in giving back to their communities.

The circus owners, Kiril Kirilov and Biliana Kirilova, also contributed RM2,500 each to the participating organisations.

The donations are a testament to the circus’ commitment to uplifting underprivileged groups.

Meanwhile, senior assistant Noor Azila Farida of the Welfare Association noted how meaningful the experience was for children with autism and Down Syndrome.

The “London Musical Show” marks a milestone in the Great British Circus’ decade-long presence in Malaysia.

Specially crafted for two venues—Desa ParkCity in Kuala Lumpur and Auto-City in Juru—the production blends sing-along music, captivating dance, and extraordinary circus acts.

According to a GBC spokesman, the production features performers from the United Kingdom and Canada.

The storyline, rich in ambition, love, betrayal, and triumph, is brought to life through seamless circus and clown acts.

The experience is further enhanced by a newly designed tent, upgraded seating, and state-of-the-art light and sound systems, ensuring a top-tier experience for audiences of all ages.

The decision to bring the Great British Circus to Penang highlights the state’s growing reputation as a cultural hub.

Lim Siew Khim remarked, “Penang is honoured to be one of only two venues selected for this production. Events like this strengthen our position as a premier destination for cultural and artistic excellence.”

Representatives from Penang Global Tourism, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), and other organisations also attended the launch, further emphasising the importance of such events to the state’s economy and cultural landscape.

The Great British Circus’ “London Musical Show” runs daily until February 16 at Auto-City, Juru.

Tickets range from RM40 to RM180 and can be purchased online at greatbritishcircus.com or at the on-site ticket office.
