The Rotary Club of Rahman Putra (RCRP) and the Rotary Club of Bandar Utama (RCBU) joined forces for a heartwarming cause—the Ne Zha 2 fundraising movie premiere at TGV One Utama. Held on Thursday, 13 March 2025, at 8:00 PM, the event combined entertainment with philanthropy, offering underprivileged children a night to remember while raising funds for future community projects.
A Night of Entertainment with a Purpose
The Ne Zha 2 screening was more than just a movie night—it was an opportunity to bring joy to underprivileged children from Jing Sun Welfare Home and Victory Home. The animated sequel, which has become the highest-grossing film of 2025, follows the story of Ne Zha and Ao Bing as they seek redemption and resilience.
For the children, many of whom face challenging circumstances, the screening provided a rare chance to escape into a world of fantasy and adventure. This experience not only entertained but also imparted messages of courage and hope, echoing the Rotary Clubs’ mission to uplift and empower vulnerable communities.
Empowering Underprivileged Children
At the heart of the initiative were the children from Jing Sun Welfare Home and Victory Home—organizations dedicated to supporting orphans, children from single-parent households, and other underprivileged youth. These homes provide a nurturing environment, access to education, and emotional support to help children thrive despite their hardships.
By hosting this event, the Rotary Clubs created joyful memories while fostering a sense of community and belonging. The initiative also highlighted the importance of collective efforts in providing these children with opportunities for a better future.
Raising Funds for Community Projects
The fundraising premiere was not only a gesture of kindness but also a significant effort to support future community initiatives. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund a variety of ongoing projects led by RCRP and RCBU. These include providing essential supplies to welfare homes and disadvantaged communities, enhancing public safety through the donation of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and emergency training, and supporting education through scholarships and school supplies for underserved children.
Additionally, the funds will help promote healthcare access by facilitating medical check-ups and health awareness programs. Through these initiatives, the Rotary Clubs continue to demonstrate their enduring commitment to addressing societal needs and improving the quality of life for those less fortunate.
Rotary Clubs’ Legacy of Service
Both RCRP and RCBU have a long-standing tradition of community service. Recent efforts by RCBU include donating AED devices to public facilities such as BU 11 Community Centre and White Fairy Futsal Court, enhancing emergency preparedness in local spaces. Beyond medical aid, their work extends to disaster relief, environmental conservation, and educational support.
The Ne Zha 2 premiere exemplifies the Rotary ethos of “Service Above Self,” uniting club members, sponsors, and the community in a shared mission of giving back. The evening’s success underscores how small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect, transforming lives and fostering a culture of compassion.
For those inspired to contribute, the Rotary Clubs welcome further donations and volunteer support. With continued community involvement, these initiatives will pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future.
