Siemens Healthineers, in partnership with Triterra, successfully hosted the #SapotLokal 2.0 campaign in conjunction with International Women’s Day 2025. The initiative raised over RM17,000 to support lower middle-income women entrepreneurs in Malaysia, providing them with a platform to showcase their businesses, expand their networks, and enhance their visibility.
The #SapotLokal campaign originated from an internal survey by Siemens Healthineers, which found that nearly 60% of employees wanted a more impactful way to celebrate International Women’s Day beyond traditional activities. This led to the creation of the initiative, aimed at supporting local social enterprises such as Komuniti Tukang Jahit (KTJ) and Ibupreneur Malaysia, with a specific focus on assisting “mother-preneurs.”
Following the success of its first edition, #SapotLokal 2.0 expanded its reach and impact this year. Jan Tiedermann, Finance Director of Siemens Healthineers, highlighted the company’s commitment to inclusivity and employee-driven initiatives.
“We believe in fostering a culture of diversity and inclusivity at Siemens Healthineers. The #SapotLokal campaign is a direct reflection of our commitment to listening to our employees, who expressed a strong desire to support local communities. By providing a platform for women-led businesses, we are helping these entrepreneurs thrive and creating opportunities that drive sustainable change within our country,” Jan Tiedermann said.
Triterra’s Commitment to Women’s Empowerment
Recognising the importance of empowering women entrepreneurs, Triterra partnered with Siemens Healthineers to expand the campaign’s reach. As a developer of The MET Corporate Towers, Triterra has long been dedicated to fostering inclusive and dynamic business environments. The #SapotLokal 2.0 initiative aligned perfectly with its mission to nurture thriving communities through collaboration.
“International Women’s Day is about much more than celebration; it’s about taking actionable steps toward progress. Through initiatives like these, we are not only empowering women entrepreneurs but also uplifting the entire community. Strengthening our community opens doors to new opportunities, and creating those opportunities paves the way for true impact,” Christopher Lim, CEO of Triterra, emphasised the importance of taking meaningful action.
Power of Inclusive Leadership
A key highlight of the event was the “Empowered Voices, United Allies” panel discussion, which featured industry leaders Sue Yii Yap, Co-founder of Komuniti Tukang Jahit (KTJ); June Hamid, Founder of Winner’s Innovative Entrepreneurial Network (WiEN); Christopher Lim, CEO of Triterra; and Jan Tiedermann, Finance Director of Siemens Healthineers.
The discussion focused on the challenges faced by women in both corporate and entrepreneurial settings, the importance of mentorship, and the role of men as allies in advocating for gender equality. The conversation aligned with this year’s International Women’s Day theme, #AccelerateAction, reinforcing the urgency of fostering inclusivity in workplaces and communities.
Impactful Bazaar
The #SapotLokal 2.0 campaign successfully raised over RM17,000 to support social enterprises like Komuniti Tukang Jahit (KTJ), Ibupreneur, and Women Of Will (WOW). In the spirit of Ramadan, the campaign featured a vibrant bazaar showcasing a variety of locally made products from lower middle-income women entrepreneurs. Every purchase directly contributed to empowering these women, helping them sustain and expand their businesses.
The event concluded with a Sunset Yoga session sponsored by Anytime Fitness, providing attendees with a moment of reflection and relaxation. Siemens Healthineers and Triterra reaffirmed their dedication to promoting diversity and inclusivity, ensuring that initiatives like #SapotLokal continue to make a meaningful difference in the community.
