Putra Heights pipeline fire

The massive fire broke out in Putra Heights on April 1, 2025, when a Petronas gas pipeline ruptured, sending flames soaring up to 30 meters into the sky. The inferno, which raged for nearly seven hours before being extinguished by 3:45 p.m., left approximately 145 people injured and forced residents within a 290-meter radius to evacuate.

Authorities are currently investigating allegations of unauthorized excavation work near the pipeline as emergency services continue relief efforts and safety inspections.

The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) confirmed that 365 vehicles were damaged in the incident, including 275 cars and 56 motorcycles. With Chery Malaysia stepping in to provide temporary transportation, affected families are receiving a crucial lifeline as they work to rebuild their lives.
