The 8th Malaysia Autoshow returns from 9 to 15 May 2025 at MAEPS Serdang, promising the biggest, most immersive automotive experience the country has ever seen. With over 50 car and bike brands participating and more than 50 new vehicle launches anticipated, this year’s showcase affirms its position as Malaysia’s largest and most influential motoring exhibition.
The Autoshow spans an expansive exhibition space showcasing new cars, bikes, and vehicle accessories — including past winners of the prestigious Malaysia Car of the Year awards. From the latest in electric mobility to futuristic concept designs, this event promises something for every automotive enthusiast and family alike. The test tracks, covering more than 5km, allow visitors to evaluate over 50 vehicles hands-on, featuring simulated corners, gradients, and even ADAS sensor challenges — all free of charge.
Adding excitement are curated zones such as the Car Modified Showcase and Motorsport Showcase, Car and Bike Gatherings, and the unique AutoFashion Show. Special programming includes a Women’s Day for female motorists and an Automotive Education & Career Day to inspire the next generation of automotive professionals.
Touch ‘n Go and Jaecoo join forces
A highlight this year is the strategic co-partnership between Touch ‘n Go and emerging automotive brand Jaecoo, signaling the deepening integration of digital payment solutions in the automotive ecosystem. Their joint booth at Hall A (07B) will present a fusion of smart mobility and cashless convenience, offering visitors a glimpse of how the future of transport is being reimagined.
Visitors can explore the full range of Touch ‘n Go innovations, including the latest RFID tags, enhanced payment cards, and the adorable Extendable Charm – Cat Edition. The star attraction will be the Hot Wheels™ Limited Edition Touch ‘n Go card, exclusively available at the show. With only 3,000 units available, this collectible NFC-enabled card is expected to sell out quickly. It’s priced at RM25 and supports toll, transit, and parking payments, with auto-reload and mobile management via TNG eWallet.
Beyond merchandising, the collaboration highlights how next-gen vehicles, like those from Jaecoo, may soon integrate dashboard-ready payment systems, setting a new standard for in-car digital convenience.
Zeekr 7X debuts in Malaysia
EV enthusiasts will not want to miss the local debut of the Zeekr 7X, a premium D-segment SUV built on Geely’s cutting-edge 800V SEA platform. Poised to challenge premium rivals like the Porsche Macan EV and BMW iX2, the Zeekr 7X combines performance, luxury, and tech innovation.
The EV comes in three configurations in China: a 416hp rear-wheel-drive with a 605km range, a long-range 780km variant, and a top-spec all-wheel-drive version boasting 637hp and a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.8 seconds. All support ultra-fast DC charging between 10 to 15 minutes. The vehicle also features V2L and V2V capabilities, a power reclining rear “sofa seat” with massage function, and a 21-speaker Dolby Atmos audio system.
The Zeekr 7X will be on display at the Autoshow, ahead of its expected Q3 Malaysian launch. Visitors can claim free entry passes to the event by visiting Zeekr Space at IOI Mall Puchong while stocks last.
Proton and Perodua’s upcoming EV line-up
The 2025 Malaysia Autoshow also serves as a national stage for Malaysia’s homegrown carmakers to showcase their transition to electric mobility. Proton is expected to preview its second EV model, the e.MAS 3/5 — a five-door hatchback based on the Geely Geome Xingyuan platform, targeted for launch later this year. Perodua, on the other hand, is likely to present the production-ready version of its first battery electric vehicle (BEV), based on the eMO-II concept.
Spotted in testing on public roads, Perodua’s EV is anticipated to be priced below RM100,000, a move that could significantly democratize access to EV ownership in Malaysia. Both manufacturers are developing dedicated EV plants — Perodua’s already operational and Proton’s currently under construction in Tanjung Malim — signifying long-term commitments to this growing segment.
Also generating buzz is Volkswagen Malaysia’s announcement of its Special Edition line-up, including a dark-themed Golf GTI, with strong hints at Tiguan and Arteon SE variants. These models will add a sporty and premium dimension to the show’s already diverse vehicle display.
Nation’s premier auto festival
With a week of high-octane launches, tech showcases, family activities, and special industry days — including a Media Day graced by Investment, Trade & Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul — the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 stands poised to not only entertain but also drive home the country’s ambitions in digital mobility, innovation, and automotive excellence.
Visitors can head to MAEPS Serdang from 10AM to 10PM daily, 9–15 May. Navigation is seamless via Waze or Google Maps, and all are encouraged to plan early to make the most of the automotive event of the year.
