ICBS and MyFood 2025 attract record turnout

ICBS and MyFood 2025 drew over 12,000 visitors, spotlighting Malaysia’s café culture, local food sourcing, and beverage innovation.

The International Café & Beverage Show (ICBS) and the debut edition of MyFood 2025 concluded with resounding success, welcoming 12,667 visitors across three vibrant days at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The dual event served as a dynamic showcase of Malaysia’s thriving café culture and a platform for promoting sustainable local food sourcing, all while reinforcing the nation’s commitment to food security and innovation.

The event was officially launched by YBhg. Datuk Isham Ishak, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, who toured the exhibition alongside a VIP entourage. His presence underscored the government’s long-term strategic aim to bolster Malaysia’s food and beverage (F&B) ecosystem through initiatives that prioritise both sustainability and national food security.

A celebration of talent

A major draw of ICBS 2025 was the exhilarating conclusion of the Malaysia Open Coffee Championship, which brought together some of the nation’s finest baristas and brewers. The audience was treated to exceptional craftsmanship and creativity as three new champions were crowned:

  • Ryan Chan of Curate Coffee Roasters – Champion, Malaysia Open Barista Championship 2025
  • Chang Wee Jiat of Afloat Coffee Roaster – Champion, Malaysia Open Latte Art Championship 2025
  • Lian Hong Soon of 103 Coffee – Champion, Malaysia Open Brewers Cup 2025

In parallel, the debut of the Eciatto Halal Mixology Competition made waves with its unique spotlight on alcohol-free mixology that captivated spectators. The winners included:

  • 2nd Place: Naseeb Nassan Berin, Bella Pasta & Wine TTDI

Eciatto Group Sdn Bhd’s co-founders Nicole Low and Hoh Tze Hou were present to personally congratulate the winners, marking a promising beginning for what may become a staple event within the ICBS line-up.

Local sourcing and food security

Meanwhile, MyFood 2025 made a powerful entrance by aligning its messaging around the “slow food” movement, promoting increased reliance on locally sourced ingredients and products. A cornerstone of the event was a two-day conference featuring key stakeholders, including representatives from FAMA, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), the Malaysian Pepper Board, and innovative local players such as Boomgrow Farms and Sri Lovely Rice Farm.

Conference delegates delved into crucial topics such as sustainable agriculture, food traceability, and the health benefits of local food choices.

“This year’s record turnout and exceptional talent on display underscore Malaysia’s growing reputation as a hub for culinary excellence and beverage innovation,” said Alun Jones, Project Director, Montgomery Asia.

“We are also particularly excited to see the successful debut of MyFood and we feel this show can play no small part in championing the increased take up of local food sourcing for everyone’s benefit.”

Jones also praised the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, FAMA, and UPM for their strategic support, alongside other government agencies including MOTAC, MyCEB, and MATRADE.

A platform for the F&B industry

With its multi-layered programming, expert panels, and record participation, ICBS and MyFood 2025 proved to be more than just a trade event — it was a forward-looking gathering aimed at shaping the future of Malaysia’s food ecosystem.

“We also like to pay special tribute to Barista Guild Asia for agreeing to co locate the exciting Malaysian Open Barista Competition (MOBC) at ICBS this year, it was a win-win collaboration for both parties, and we hope we can continue this partnership,” added Jones.

Organisers have already confirmed the next edition of ICBS and MyFood will take place from 7–9 May 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. As anticipation builds, the events are poised to continue serving as premier platforms for culinary excellence and sustainable food advocacy in the region.
