The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has announced a significant milestone, securing over RM350 million in business export opportunities at Sushi Tech Tokyo 2025, Asiaโs largest startup and innovation conference. This achievement underscores Malaysiaโs growing stature as a digital innovation hub and its commitment to fostering international collaboration in the technology ecosystem.
Sushi Tech Tokyo 2025 brought together more than 500 startups and tens of thousands of participants from across the globe. The event focused on driving open innovation and addressing urban challenges through cutting-edge technologies and diverse global partnerships.

Showcasing Malaysian innovation

As the Ambassador and Lead Organisation for the Malaysia Pavilion, MDEC collaborated with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) Tokyo, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC), and Cyberview Sdn Bhd. Together, they showcased 17 innovative Malaysian tech companies through exhibition booths, business meetings, and the Malaysia Tech Spotlight pitching session.
Over 150 meetings were hosted by Malaysian companies with international counterparts from countries such as Thailand, South Korea, Australia, Mexico, and the United States. Discussions spanned across sectors including artificial intelligence, fintech, robotics, semiconductors, and quantum technologies.
Participating companies included Alphaswift Industries, ALT Synergy, Bay Group Holdings, Boostorder, Collaborative Excellence, GoFluence, Hikayat Kebun, MDT Innovations, Move Robotic, MV Asia (FoneApp), Neupulse (BiiB), Pandai Education, Primary Guard, Sky-Tag Robotics, Unicom Marketing Digital, Xtractify, and Qarbotech.
Forging strategic partnerships with Japan

A key highlight of Malaysiaโs participation was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MDEC and Japanโs WingArc1st, a leading provider of software and cloud services. Held at WingArc1stโs headquarters in Roppongi, the MoU was represented by Jun Tanaka, CEO of WingArc1st, and Wan Murdani Wan Mohamad, MDECโs Head of Digital Industry Acceleration & Digital Exports.
The partnership aims to support high-potential Malaysian startups by strengthening their data capabilities and accelerating their entry into the Japanese market through Proof of Concept (PoC) projects and funding opportunities.
Additionally, MDEC witnessed a strategic collaboration agreement between Boostorder and WingArc1st. This partnership focuses on enhancing operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making, further reinforcing Malaysiaโs vision to leverage technology as a catalyst for business growth.
