Premier League Trophy set for grand arrival in Kuala Lumpur

Guinness to honour 100 fans as Guard of Honour for Premier League Trophy’s KL arrival at Pavilion, offering exclusive merch and photo opportunities.

Football fans in Malaysia will have the chance to witness one of the sport’s most coveted prizes up close, as the Premier League Trophy makes its way to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur this August. Guinness, now in its second year as an official Premier League sponsor, is giving 100 lucky supporters the opportunity to lead a ceremonial Guard of Honour when the trophy arrives on Friday, 22 August 2025.

From exclusive merchandise to an early photo opportunity with the Trophy, the event promises an unforgettable experience for those chosen. The visit will run from 22 to 24 August, offering both invited participants and the general public a weekend filled with football celebration.

A tradition of pride and respect

The Guard of Honour is a hallmark in football culture, often reserved for welcoming champions, legendary players, or iconic symbols of the game. For this special occasion, it will be the fans — not the players — who take centre stage.

The selected Guards of Honour will don their favourite club jerseys alongside official Guinness gear, forming a united corridor of passion as the Trophy is ushered into Pavilion KL. Each participant will receive an exclusive Guinness scarf and cap, along with the coveted first chance to take a photo with the Premier League Trophy. To cap off the day, they will also enjoy a complimentary Guinness Draught in Can, while stocks last.

“In our second year as a Premier League sponsor, we’re honoured to bring a piece of that magic to those who usually cheer from behind a screen,” said Joyce Lim, Marketing Manager at Guinness Malaysia. “Football has a unique way of creating connections between friends, families, strangers at the bar, and even fans of rival clubs. Some follow the game, others follow the people who love it. Recruiting 100 Guards of Honour is our tribute to all of them.”

How to be part of the guard

Guinness is inviting Premier League supporters to apply for the Guard of Honour by visiting @GuinnessMY on Instagram and locating the recruitment post. Entrants must comment on why they and a nominated football friend deserve the spot, tag their football buddy, and include the hashtag #LovelyDayForAGuinness.

Fifty winners will be chosen, with each bringing along their tagged friend to complete the 100-strong Guard of Honour. Applications close at 12:00 PM (MYT) on 17 August 2025.

A weekend for all football fans

While the Guard of Honour is a one-day-only event, the Trophy will remain at Pavilion KL on 23 and 24 August for public viewing. Fans can snap photos, record cinematic slow-motion videos, and even claim a free pint or can of Guinness Draught at Arthur’s Storehouse if they attend in a Premier League jersey — subject to availability and eligibility.

The event is open strictly to non-Muslims aged 21 and above. Guinness Malaysia reminds all participants to enjoy responsibly and to never drink and drive.

With the combination of football prestige, fan unity, and Guinness hospitality, this August’s Trophy visit is set to be a memorable celebration for Malaysian supporters of the beautiful game.
