The pints have been poured, the Tilt Tests completed, and after a months-long search, Guinness Malaysia has officially crowned its first-ever Chief Pint Officers (CPOs). Out of hundreds of entries nationwide, three stout enthusiasts rose to the top — with one securing a coveted trip to the home of Guinness in Dublin, Ireland.
The new Guinness quality ambassadors are:
- Chia Pui Kwun, Alam Damai, Kuala Lumpur — crowned Grand CPO and headed to Dublin
- Ong Li Min, Cameron Highlands, Pahang
- Thiban Anadcaan @Eaganathan, Rawang, Selangor
The trio now carry the responsibility of recognising, celebrating, and upholding the brand’s quality standards across Malaysia.
Arthur’s Storehouse finale
The road to becoming a CPO was anything but conventional. Candidates earned their spots on the leaderboard by showcasing their pint-pouring skills on Instagram, mastering techniques such as spotting, tilting, and posting the perfect pour.
The grand finale was held at Arthur’s Storehouse in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, where ten finalists battled it out through a series of challenges — from a Guinness-themed trivia round to live pouring tests under the watchful eye of Guinness ambassadors.
Finalists were judged on their ability to identify a flawless pint without tasting, demonstrate the brand’s signature 7Cs of the Perfect Pour — including Cleanliness, Coldness and Confidence — and complete Guinness’ renowned pouring ritual under pressure.
By the end of the competition, it was clear that only those who could blend skill, precision, and passion for the brand would earn the CPO title.
What comes with the title
Being named a CPO comes with both prestige and perks. Each winner will receive exclusive benefits, including a monthly allocation of Guinness products, RM150 credit for Arthur’s Storehouse, VIP invitations to selected Guinness events, and a personalised birthday celebration worth RM888.
The Grand CPO, Chia Pui Kwun, will enjoy the ultimate prize — an all-expenses-paid trip to Dublin, where he will visit the legendary Guinness Storehouse and experience the brand’s heritage at its source.
“What stood out wasn’t just their knowledge of the perfect pint of Guinness — it was their deep passion for the brand, their ability to recognise and celebrate quality, and the personal pride they took in every moment of the journey,” said Joyce Lim, Marketing Manager at Guinness Malaysia. “That’s the spirit of Guinness, and it’s what we saw in our three CPOs.”
Raising the bar for Guinness fans
Over the coming months, Guinness drinkers can look forward to pint tips, bar recommendations, and even appearances by the CPOs at selected outlets. Whether at a flagship store or a local neighbourhood bar, the Guinness quality ambassadors will be on the lookout for pints poured to perfection — and helping fans recognise them too.
The brand also continues to encourage fans to perform their own Tilt Test. By gently tilting a pint glass to check if the foam stays in place without spilling, consumers can instantly tell if they’re holding a Guinness worthy of celebration.
While the first CPOs have now been crowned, Guinness Malaysia says the journey is far from over. The Tilt Test remains a ritual every fan can practice — keeping the brand’s standard alive with every pint poured and enjoyed.
