Damansara fire station fosters unity with Merdeka flag ceremony

Damansara Fire and Rescue Station united with community groups to raise Jalur Gemilang, celebrating Merdeka with camaraderie.

The spirit of Merdeka shone brightly at the Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Damansara (BBP Damansara) as the Jalur Gemilang was raised in celebration of Malaysia’s 68th Independence Day season. The event brought together members of Bomba Komuniti Bandar Utama, the Rotary Club of Bandar Utama, Fire Fighter Industry Sdn Bhd, and local residents, turning the station grounds into a true community gathering.

Despite strong gusts, about 30 Jalur Gemilang flags were hoisted in unison, accompanied by the stirring tune of “Jalur Gemilang.” The dramatic sight of the flags flying against the wind added emotional weight to the ceremony, capturing the essence of patriotism and unity in motion.

Celebration of service and community bonds

The celebration was officiated by BBP Damansara Station Chief, Puan Nor Najila Rocklan, who warmly welcomed participants and reflected the station’s strong ties with the community. Certificates of appreciation were presented to participating groups before attendees gathered for a lively photo session, highlighting camaraderie among all present. Adding a thoughtful touch, a birthday cake was shared to honour a Bomba Komuniti member, blending the spirit of national pride with personal joy.

Fire Fighter Industry Sdn Bhd complemented the day with a corporate social responsibility exhibition on fire safety, along with the sponsorship of fire extinguishers. This dual effort of celebrating Merdeka while promoting preparedness highlighted the balance between festive cheer and public safety.

A legacy of trust and preparedness

BBP Damansara has long stood as a trusted institution in the neighbourhood, evolving from its early beginnings into a modern station equipped to meet emergencies with efficiency and skill. Beyond its operational responsibilities, the station has maintained an active role in community outreach, reinforcing a culture of safety and shared responsibility.

The recent celebration was not only a reflection of the station’s heritage but also a prelude to Malaysia’s upcoming 68th Merdeka on 31 August 2025. It served as a timely reminder of unity, resilience, and gratitude, values that continue to bind Malaysians together as the nation prepares to mark another year of independence.
