Special Branch: Closing the big divide

Johor state special branch recently organised a dialogue session with residents from Taman Johor Jaya and Taman Molek, Johor Bahru.

The dialogue saw more than a dozen residents involved in a discussion with the special branch, which was represented by Deputy Superitendant Tong Siew Peng and three other officers.

Tong wanted the public to work hand in hand with the police to enhance the security of the area.  She also said that few members of the public actually already have the police hotline for them to get in touch with the men in blue.

Tong also advised the public to have the phone numbers of the nearest police stations saved in their mobile phones, especially the hotline number 07 – 2212999, to get help from them.

Businessman, Ivan Lee, highlighted the problem of police officers taking bribes, and also the increase in the number of break-ins near his factory area.

He agreed with Tong that the police should improve their service to portray a better image to the public.

Tong advised those present to report to the police every crime, even attempted cases so that the police have an accurate number of cases that occurred.

She also wanted all races to be more united and to be more tolerant of one another.

A video presentation of the Malaysian special branch was shown to those present to  educate them the duties of special branch.
