More than 150 members of 27 trade unions staged a demonstration in Kampung Pasir, Scudai, Johor Bahru recently.
Tan Eng Hong, Malaysian Trade Union Congress (MTUC) Johor Division Chairman, and President of National Union Of Bank Employees (NUBE) said they are protesting against two amendments to the Employment Act 1955.
Tan clarified that the amendments are to the overtime payment and allowing companies to outsource labour to third parties rather than employing them directly.
They hope the Government will repel the amendments that were passed on October 6, 2011.
