In Washington D.C, a group of approximately 50 Malaysian nationals, marched for a kilometre to the Malaysian Embassy to hand over amemorandum echoing the 8 demands of Bersih 2.0 towards call free and fair elections.
According to event organiser, John Lee the primary aim of the event was to create awareness of the objectives of Bersih 2.0 and the situation in Malaysia among those residing in the United States.
Arriving from various parts of the United States, they group armed with colourful placards and a cheerful demeanour, attracted honks fromongoing cars as a sign of support. The D.C Metro Police provided thegroup with police escort as the group had earlier applied and been provided with a permit for their march.
Once arriving at the embassy, the group gathered and sang the Malaysian national anthem “NegaraKu” in front of the Malaysianembassy. The group later posted the memorandum containing the 8 demands and signatures by all attendees.
