Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has come under criticisms from Barisan Nasional leaders over the Penang State Government’s directive to MPPP and MPSP to disallow sports betting in Penang. This comes under the Local Government Act 101(v).
The Deputy Minister of Finance, Chor Chee Heung is said to have claimed that Guan Eng’s decision is unconstitutional. Meanwhile, Arif Shah from UMNO was reported to say legalising sports betting will help as a means of control.
