Wesak day: The prayer

Wesak Day, celebrated around May by Buddhists marks three momentous events in Buddha’s life – his birthday, enlightenment, and achievement of Nirvana.

The celebration begins at dawn when devotees gather at the temples to meditate on the Eight Precepts. Donations, giving food to the needy, offerings of incense, joss sticks and prayers are carried out.

While at the Penang Buddhist Association this Wesak Day morning, CJ Jimmy Leow took the opportunity to pray for world peace and for people to be courteous to each.
