” I don’t have to come here… to Rejang Park… This is not the place for a prime minister to come. These were the words of our Prime Minister when he was campaigning in the Sibu By-election on the 15th May 2010.
Malaysian Sarawakians have often said that people of peninsular Malaysia do not understand or appreciate the people, culture and the natural beauty of Sarawak.
This video made from images taken in Sibu during the by-election. It shows the serenity of Sibu’s Rejang Park with the replica Swan commemorating the Foochows arrival in Sibu a couple of centuries ago at the height of the White Rajah’s rule of Sarawak.
With such a historical and natural heritage, the Sarawak Government should push for UNESCO world heritage listing and put the peace city on the world map like Penang and Malacca.
