Desa Kempas: 12 years of waiting, no solution in sight

KEMPAS: 231 units of medium cost flatted house are far from being completed and again the developer has reneged on its promise.

House buyers of Taman Desa Kempas gathered this morning (yesterday) to picket at the project site, here, to express their profound disappointment and dissatisfaction with the Housing and Local Government Ministry and the Johor state government for failing to resolve their 12 years housing woes caused by Maju Delima Sdn Bhd, the developer of the ‘sick’ housing project.

The last meeting the house buyers had with the relevant government agencies and the developer was on December 23, 2011, said Suhaizan Kaiat, the liaison officer of Kempas Public Complaint Centre.

Present at that meeting were Ir Lai Liang Koong, the director Public Housing Monitoring department, and representatives from the Johor state secretary office, the state economic planning unit (UPEN), Johor Bahru City Council and Maju Delima Sdn Bhd (developer).

During the meeting, the developer has made a commitment to complete the 231 units of the medium cost flatted house by March, 2012.

He added, to this day, the 231 units of medium cost flatted house are far from being completed and again the developer has reneged on its promise.

Representatives from the Taman Desa Kempas House Buyers Action Committee have decided to submit a memorandum to the minister concern in Parliament House on April 17, 2012 urging the government, specifically the Housing and Local Government Ministry to resolve the housing problem expeditiously, Suhaizan told reporters.

Meanwhile, Ee Cheng Lai, 54, the chairperson for Taman Desa Kempas Action Committee, urged the remaining house buyers who were not present today to contact him at 016 7020397 for an update on the project status.
