Insany Syahbarwaty was a war correspondent covering the bloody Maluku, (Mollucas Islands) ethnic and religious conflict from 1999 to 2002. The conflict left some 50,000 Muslims and Christians dead.
Travelling all the way from Maluku to Kuala Lumpur, for the World Press Freedom Day Forum, she tried to reconcile her roles as a war correspondent , a devout Muslim and now a peace journalist.
The forum, organised by the Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ) was held at the Annexe Building, Central Market, Kuala Lumpur on the 8th May 2010.
