Petaling Jaya Utara MP, Tony Pua who is in Penang recently talked to members of the media regarding the RM8billion order for 257 8×8 armoured vehicles by the Ministry of Defence from Deftech a wholly owned by DRB Hicom Berhad.
According to the press statement, the purchase of the vehicles will cost a shocking RM31.1M per unit and this is not even a non-combat vehicle.
In comparison, the top of the range AWVs is said to costs only RM9.9M while an armoured carrier produced in USA only costs RM19.8M.
