A coalition of non-governmental organizations and concern citizens in Johor have got together to formed an organising committee named Johor Bahru Bersih 3.0, to organize and coordinate the Bersih 3.0 Sit-In peaceful public protest which will held at the Dataran Bandaraya Johor Bahru on April 28, 2012 at 2pm.
This was told to the reporters in a press conference this morning by the organizing committee at the South Johor Chinese Press Club, here.
According to the Co-chairperson of Johor Bahru Bersih 3.0, Thomas Fann, there are three main reasons behind their decision to organise the peaceful public protest here in Johor Bahru.
Firstly, he said, the issues raised by Bersih affect all Malaysians from all walks of life and the people must be allowed to express their aspirations and concerns through peaceful mean which is a right guaranteed under the Federal Constitution.
Second, Malaysians must be allowed to decide on their future through the ballot box under a clean and fair electoral process. Any shortcomings of the electoral system must be rectified before the next general election.
And thirdly, holding the peaceful public protest locally will not only resolved the many constraints of the people and that will encourage more people in Johor to come out to participate in the event, Thomas added.
“I urged Johoreans, regardless of race, religion and political affiliation to come out in full force on April 28, 2012 at 2pm in Dataran Bandaraya Johor Bahru, to make a stand in support of Bersih” he added.
He said, Johor Bahru Bersih 3.0 is in facebook and those who are interested to know more about the event can logon to www.facebook.com/BersihJB
