Senior citizen injured by faulty escalator

A senior citizen fell at an escalator located in KOMTAR. He suffered a head injury.

While investigating the cause of the accident, CJ Jimmy Leow found that the escalator hand rail was faulty.

The hand rail stopped while the escalator was moving.

A maintenance staff said that they have requested PDC to repair the said problem but the approval did not come.

The maintenance staff mentioned that he submitted the request about 2 months ago.

A shopper said that such accident has occurred several times.

CJ Jimmy Leow contacted Ng Wei Aik, Adun Komtar to get some clarification. Ng said that he was told by another reporter of this incident, and he promised to look into this matter.
