The morning a free medical eye camp was held in Jalan Ali, Muar, here, which is organised by the Rotary Club of Muar in collaborations with Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah (HPSF), Pejabat Pergigian Daerah Muar, Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Muar and Majlis Perbandaran Muar.
Many local residents were seen queuing up for the medical tests which include eye, dental screening, diabetic and blood pressure tests.
Speaking to CJMY, Rotary District Governor 3310, Zainie Abdul Aucasa said, he is pleased to see yet another community project being carried out successfully by the club and complimented to all those who have made this medical eye camp possible.
Meanwhile, the Muar Rotary Club President, Dr Senthil Doraisamy told CJMY that there is a marked increase in the numbers of diabetic and hypertension cases in the district.
Adding he said, sufferers of both the illnesses normally face a higher risk of vision complications and that is one of the reasons that prompted Rotary Club of Muar to organised this medical eye camp which involves eyes screening to detect for complications including cataract.
The Rotary Club Of Muar with its 52 members has been actively involved in numerous community projects in Muar for the last 52 years, said the past governor of Rotary International 3310, M Jayasingam.
Over the last few months, the club has carried out tree planting project and recently donated dictionaries to rural primary schools in the district.
