Penang acquires land for Tamil school

Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil Azad is a school with about 80 students. But until now, this \’school\’ has been \’hidden\’ in the basement of the Indian Association clubhouse along Jalan Bagan Jermal in Penang. However, the schoolchildren can now look forward to moving into a proper building next year.

The Penang state government has acquired a piece of land belonging to the Penang Municipal Council for a new building for the school. The acquisition is to be funded by both the federal government through the Education Ministry and the Penang state government.
