March 27, 2010 – Earth Hour. It is heartwarming to see Malaysians from all walks of life, regardless of religion or race coming together, holding hands, singing ‘We are the world’ and several of Michael Jackson’s songs and making a pledge to do their part to save Mother Earth.
However, it is a bit ironic that the organiser had distributed 10,000 plastic cups and tealights plus giving out drinking water in plastic bottles to the people.
A quick survey around Georgetown showed that most establishments do not observe the one hour ‘lights off’ effort. Only a few government buildings switched off their lights.
