Penang Bersih 3.0: A serene success

The Penang Bersih 3.0 rally, as with other similar Bersih rallies, demanded, on top of eradicating corruption, that:
1. The Election Commission must resign, as it has failed in its responsibility
and has lost the confidence of the public.
2. The electoral process must be cleaned before the 13th General Elections.
3. International observers be allowed to observe the 13th General Elections.

Many thought that Penangites were fearful and apprehensive that Berish 3.0 will turned ugly, if not worse, having have bitter experience from the last Anti Lynas rally where thugs and gangsters, threatened and assaulted  the protestors. As a result, the general perception is that Berish 3.0 in Penang is set to fail, at best it will be insignificant, if at all.

However, Penangnites have proven the critics wrong, when finally 7000 supportes converged on Esplanade in solidarity with their brothers and sisters nationwide and across more than 70 cities around the world.

It was a sounding success when chief minister Lim Guan Eng,  orchestrated the sea of supporters to shout in unison, “Bersih !” sending a loud and trembling message to the current regime that people power is still very much alive in Malaysia, especially in Penang.
