The 17th Kite Festival set to colour Pasir Gudang

The three day Annual Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival is back for the seventeenth time.

The three day Annual Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival is back for the seventeenth time this February 15, in Bukit Layang Layang, Pasir Gudang.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference in Bangunan JOTIC, here, recently, Hoo Seng Chang, the state Exco for Tourism and Domestic Trade, said, the Pasir Gudang local council has signed a ‘Twin Kite City’ MOU with China’s Weifang International Kite Festival (WIKF) and part of the program will include WIKF playing as main host for this year event.

Forty-four participants from WIKF will also be taking part in this year event.

There will be a host of other activities lined up for the event to coincide with the 10th anniversary celebration of Muzium Layang Layang, Pasir Gudang, said Hoo.

Pasir Gudang local council chief, On Jabbar @Ja’afar, said, to-date 849 participants have registered for the event which includes 225 foreign participants from some 34 countries.

As for local participation, 178 have registered to take part in the event and on top of that there are 275 participants from various schools plus 104 from the corporate sector.

Some 250,000 spectators are expected to witness the 3 day annual world event, said On Jabbar.
