To complement government efforts to tackle illegal motorcycle racing, the Northern Bikers Club will organise a convoy themed, ‘Return of Jom Jem Penang 2012’, at the Esplanade.

About 1,500 owners of superbikes and ordinary motorcycles nationwide are expected to participate in the event which will be held for two days, beginning Feb 10.

Club president Norhalim Abdul said the programme would provide an avenue for bikers to pursue the sport on a proper platform.

“During the programme, we will also hold a motorcycle clinic which will be conducted by a racing team from Petronas.

“Among others, participants will learn how to handle the machine safely, including the technical aspects,” he said during a press conference yesterday.

He invited motorcycle racing enthusiasts in the country to participate in the convoy which would start from the Esplanade, head towards Fort Cornwallis and finish at the Hard Rock Hotel. Participation is free, except for the RM80 registration.
