Indraf 2.0 organisers attacked

KLANG – Selangor DAP state committee member V Ganapathirao and his brother V Raidu were attacked by 3 individuals at Taman Mutiara Meru last night.

Selangor DAP state committee member V Ganapathirao and his brother V Raidu were attacked by 3 individuals at Taman Mutiara, Jalan Meru last night.

Both brothers were attacked with a car steering lock and metal objects while walking towards a funeral home after parking their cars some 50m away.

Ganapathirao suffered injuries on his nose and neck while V Raidu, who came to his brother’s rescue suffered a fracture in his left arm and dislocated his shoulder. He was taken for a second round of Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) scan and an operation was scheduled.

According to Ganapathirao, one of the assailants had approached him two years ago, asking him to join Barisan Nasional.

A police report was lodged but no arrests were made despite having disclosed the name and car number plate of  one of the assailants.

Both brothers are key people who are leading the Hindraf splinter group Malaysian Indian Voice (MIV) and organised the MIV rally in Kuala Lumpur last Saturday.

It is alleged that for the last two weeks, Ganapathirao and his brother have constantly received threatening phone calls asking them to abandon MIV. They were also accused of causing a divide among Indians.

Leaders of PKR mainly Selangor state DAP leaders and councilors, DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang, Penang Deputy Chief Minister II  P Ramasamy, Ipoh Barat MP M Kulasegaran, Sungkai state assemblyperson A Sivanesan, Hindraf colleagues R Gengatharan, T Vasanthakumar and Kapar MP S Manikavasagam have visited them since last night.

At press conference after visiting them DAP leader Lim Kit Siang called for round-table discussion on the increase of violence against PR leaders.
