The solar panel lamp post project is a pilot project under the Penang State Municipal Council.

The developer for the Sunway Tunas, Sunway City sponsored the solar lights while two other companies were commissioned to install the contraption after an open tender.

Taman Sunway Tunas Residents Association, Teh Kim Chuan were pleased with this project as it made the park safer for the residents there.

“We are happy that our request for park lighting have been fulfilled,” said Teh.

MPPP councillor Tan Seng Keat, who spearheaded the project hoped this will be a model project which will be emulated by others.

He also thanked Sunway City for their sponsorship and in contributing in their Social Corporate Responsibility to make Penang a cleaner and greener city.

Warranty for the solar panel is 10 years and warranty for the battery packs is 3 years.

The lights will be fully operational in the next two weeks.
