SJK (T) Mount Austin was established some fifty-five years ago in 1957.

Located near a river and on low land, this school faced frequent flooding damaging their facilities and building of the school.

In 2004, Parliament member of Tebrau, Tuan Ling Ban San raised the flooded school issue with particularly referring to SJK(T) Mount Austin. He asked what measure have been taken to solve this problem and the then Secretary of Education Minister, Puan P. Komala Devi answered that in an emergency need; application can be made to Ministry of Education for further action.

In 2005 the floods adversely affected the school until the building collapsed. The students were then relocated to Sekolah Kebangsaan Mount Austin as a temporary measure while awaiting a new school building to be built.

After sharing the school premises for 5 years, in 2010, the state government finally allocated a 4.7 ha land in Taman Desa Tebrau for the proposed four-storey school building and provided a RM4 million building fund recently.

During a Pakatan ceramah held in Taman Puteri Wangsa, here, recently, Johor PKR deputy president Selva Kumar, raised the issue in his speech and stated that to-date, the proposed 4-storey school building is still not in sight.

He questioned why the RM4 million building fund allocation was not used to build the proposed school.

Citizen Journalists Malaysia (CJMY) then went to investigate the original site of SJK (T) Mount Austin recently and found that the original low laying land has been raised and is now developed with medium and light industrial factory buildings.
