The body of an unidentified man was found floating in Sungai Linggi, near a sand dredging area in Taman Taman Angsa Mas, Mambau, yesterday morning.
The man, believed to be in his 50s and without any identity documents, was found by members of the public at about 10am. A witness, Cho Hai, 58, a worker at the sand dredge, said his friend who was feeding some fish in the area stumbled upon the floating body.
“First we thought it was the body of a dog as we had come across several dog carcasses in the river. But when we saw it was that of a man, we called the police,” he said.
The body, which was believed to have been afloat for about two days, was sent to Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban Hospital for post-mortem.
Seremban police chief ACP Saiful Azly Kamaruddin confirmed receiving a report on the find and said police were waiting for the post-mortem report.
