Flood conditions showed marked improvement as only 902 people from 218 families remained at 14 flood relief centres in Johor at 10pm tonight, compared with 1,826 recorded at 6pm.
Prevailing good weather conditions yesterday and today, saw water receding at several areas, allowing residents to return home.
The fine weather today also contributed to the drop in the water level at Sungai Lenik in Ladang Chaah, Segamat, from the danger level of 6 metres to the alert level of 5.77m.
The National Security Council portal reported that of the 14 relief centres still open, four are in Kluang with 469 victims, five in Batu Pahat (224), four in Segamat (173), and one in Pontian (36).
Areas that remained flooded in Kluang were Kampung Isnin Maarof, Kampung Sungai Linau, Parit Haji Hassan Parit Seri Paya and Kampung Contoh while in Segamat, Kampung Batu Badak, Kampung Pogoh, Kampung Paya Dalam and Kampung Spangloi remained flooded.
In Batu Pahat, Kampung Temeleh Kampung Sri Paya, Kampung Parit Haji Khalil, SK Bandan, Kampung Parit Haji Kamisan and SK Bukit Kuari while in Pontian, Kampung Tampok Lapis, Benut also remained flooded.
Other rivers that were still at the alert level were Sungai Muar (19.58m) in Kampung Awat and Buloh Kasap (9.02m) in Segamat as well as Sungai Senggarang (3.30m) in Senggarang, Batu Pahat.
