More tourists will be able to enjoy the beauty of Sungai Melaka when construction of the second phase of the RM21 million Sungai Melaka tourist monorail project is completed in February 2013.
Melaka Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam said the project spanning 1.3 kilometres, a continuation of the first phase launched on Oct 20, would allow tourists to appreciate Melaka’s sights from the monorail.
“Upon completion of the second phase, the track will make a full round of 2.9 kilometres,” he told reporters at the ground-breaking ceremony of the second phase at Jalan Tun Mutahir yesterday.
Mohd Ali added that the Tourism Ministry had allocated RM13.2 million for implementation of the project by Agibs Engineering & Construction Sdn Bhd.
