Tomorrow, the curtains will open on the much awaited concert dinner gala An Evening With The Phantom to take stage for two nights at JW Marriott, Kuala Lumpur.
International sensation Ramin Karimloo and songstress Annalisa Kerrigan will enamour the audience with 14 songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera and Karimloo’s debut album which will be launched next year.
Australia’s best-selling classical artist Annalisa Kerrigan said that this performance will be special to her as she has never performed for family in Malaysia before. The song-writer and singer with Malaysian heritage will also be performing with Karimloo for the first time.
Karimloo said at the press conference that this would be his third and final performance in Malaysia. When asked how he handles a crowd which has little or no exposure to the opera he said “I try not to impose myself on them and allow them to be reserve but Malaysians have always gone crazy at my performances”.
He also said that he started performing as a Phantom at a very young age and that has helped transform his carrier as it has opened many doors to other opportunities like acting, producing his debut album, writing songs and theatre performances.
The self-prophesising Karimloo said at age 16 that he will one day play Phantom and lived to his word at 26, he told the Media at a press conference in JW Marriott on Monday.
An Evening with the Phantom being the first performance of its kind will have the audience and artists engaged in a more personal way compared to a strictly musical theatre performance where most of the artists are perched on an ivory tower. Karimloo promised an intimate performance not one which is too posh or stuffy.
Sponsored by brand leaders in their respective fields, YTL Hotels, JW Marriott, Quill Motorcars Sdn. Bhd., A Cut Above, Estee Lauder, Zang Toi, Pernod Ricard Malaysia, Seng Hup Lightings and Décor, Beaubelle Worldwide and Anya Hindmarch Malaysia, this black-tie and evening gown only affair will see more than 400 people enjoying the first of its kind concert.
Organisers Enfiniti Vision Media, well established for organising Kuala Lumpur’s most exclusive social events, has set out to make this a night of grandeur and opulence.
According to Group President of Enfiniti Vision Media Tiara Jacquelina, “It is really such a rare opportunity for fans of theatre in Malaysia to be able to experience a performance of this caliber from the West End featuring the original Phantom himself, here in Kuala Lumpur. We have been meticulously planning and preparing for An Evening with the Phantom for the past two months.”
