The Alor Setar City Council (MBAS) will host a people’s dinner today in honour of the Sultan of Kedah, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, who has been elected the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
MBAS Mayor Md Noh Ahmad told reporters here that the event, at the Taman Peringatan Jubli Emas, is expected to be attended by about 6,000 people, including members of the royal court and community leaders.
The event will feature cultural performances from the Malay, Chinese, Indian and Siamese community as well as performance by a police band.
There will also be a 15-minute fireworks display.
Those attending the event are advised to be properly attired.
