The number of flood evacuees in Kelantan has increased to 1,420 people tonight from 1,184 people in the evening.
A spokesman at the State Flood Operations Room said another flood relief centre was opened to accommodate the increase in the number of victims, bringing the total to 28.
Floods have hit seven districts in Kelantan – Bachok, Kota Baharu, Kuala Krai, Machang, Pasir Puteh, Tanah Merah and Pasir Mas, which is the worst affected.
Thirteen flood relief centres have been opened in Pasir Mas, he added. He also said that the level of two major rivers in the state were at the warning point, the Golok River at Rantau Panjang and the Kelantan River at the Guillemard bridge.
The floods have also resulted in several roads be under water and closed to all traffic.
They are in Jalan Machang-Pangkal Meleret-Wakaf Bata in Machang; Jalan Pohon Tanjung-Meranti, Jalan Pohon Tanjung-Rantau Panjang (Jalan Lama) Kampung Siram and Jalan Rantau Panjang-Panglima Bayu in Pasir Mas and Jalan Tanah Merah-Kusial-Kampung Ipoh in Tanah Merah.
In TERENGGANU, there is no improvement in the flood situation with 2,402 people still at the 46 flood relief centres in the state.
They comprise 573 people in Besut, 112 in Hulu Terengganu, 1,540 in Setiu, 166 in Kemaman and 11 in Marang .
The level of rivers at several places have breached the danger point in Setiu, Besut and Hulu Terengganu.
