Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob said the “Overcoming Challenges and Improving State Revenue Seminar” was aimed at finding ways to tackle corruption as well as avoiding leakages in the state’s revenue.
He said the seminar raised awareness on the need to improve the state revenue by rejecting corruption in administrative dealings.
“I notice that the MACC’s integrity in combating corruption has improved and this seminar will give further insight on symptoms of corruption, hence improving the state’s revenue,” he told reporters after closing the three-day seminar today.
Meanwhile, MACC Chief Commissioner Abu Kassim Mohamed said a study showed that if corruption was not weeded out from the civil service, the state government would lose from 10 to 25 per cent of its revenue.
At the event, 12 civil servants received certificates of appreciation and RM3,000 cash each from the state government for lodging bribery reports under Section 17 (B) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.
