A man died while watching the SEA Games football final between Malaysia and Indonesia in a restaurant in Guar Chempedak last night.
Ahmad Fauzi Ismail, 42, died from a heart attack while being rushed by ambulance to Yan district hospital.
Restaurant helper Hasli Ishak, 29, said Fauzi was a regular customer and often patronise the place to watch football matches shown on television.
“I saw Fauzi eating rice slowly and he looked very weak. He fainted on a chair at about 10.50pm. We called an ambulance which arrived at 11pm to take him to hospital,” he told Bernama here today.
Meanwhile, sister-in-law Nafishah Jusoh, 46, said she learnt of Fauzi’s death after receiving a phone call from his brother-in-law who lives in Kuala Lumpur.
The last time she met Fauzi was at about 11am yesterday when he complained
of being unhealthy and asked to be sent to hospital for treatment.
“Fauzi’s a football fan and never give up the chance to watch football matches. He told me that he will go to hospital immediately after the match but he died before seeing the team win,” she said.
Nafishah said Fauzi, the youngest of four siblings, was suffering from hypertension and diabetes.
