A senior citizen was fined RM1,500, in default two months’ jail, by the Magistrate’s court today after he pleaded guilty to negligence in taking care of his three dogs resulting in a man to be injured.

A senior citizen was fined RM1,500, in default two months’ jail, by the Magistrate’s court today after he pleaded guilty to negligence in taking care of his three dogs resulting in a man to be injured.

Magistrate Zulkpli Abdullah handed down the sentence on Cheah Soo @ Ah Peng, 67.

Cheah was charged with negligently omitting to take care of his dogs, resulting in the animals to attack and cause injury on a contractor, Ting Soon Teck, 33, at a fish pond in Perumahan Orkid Desa Fasa 2, Sungai Besi, Cheras, at  3.20pm on Sept 18 this year.

Cheah, the caretaker of the pond, is charged under Section 289 of the Penal Code which carries an imprisonment of up to six months or fine of up to RM2,000 or both, if found guilty.

Deputy public prosecutor Haderiah Siri prosecuted, while Cheah was represented by lawyer Lim Lip Eng.
