Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the salary and bonus, amounting to RM1.4 million ringgit, to the Selangor Development Corporation (PKNS) general manager over a period of two years was reasonable based on his work performance.

He told the state assembly that it was commensurate with the work load and responsibilities entrusted on him in looking after assets belonging to the state government companies.

“Since 2009 until 2011, the performance of the general manager and PKNS can be categorised as good,” he said when winding up the debate on the 2012 Selangor budget today at Shah Alam.

He said that studies that had been conducted also showed that people who control government-linked companies obtained an income of more than RM1 million a year.

Opposition chief Mohamad Satim Diman had questioned the RM1.4 million in salary and bonus paid to the PKNS general manager saying that it was too much and ridiculous.

In another matter, Abdul Khalid refuted an allegation by Kuang Assemblyman Abdul Shukur Idrus that the state reserves left by former Selangor Menteri Besar Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo was RM1.7 billion.

He said that based on Financial Report on March 31, 2008, the state reserves was RM689 million.
The State Assembly sitting continues today.
