All flood management agencies have been instructed to put in place comprehensive preparations to face the floods which are expected to occur this month.
Kedah Federal Development Department director Azmi Lateh said based on experience, there was a need to take further steps in improving the distribution of aid and evacuation of flood victims.
“I’m confident that past weaknesses can be avoided,” he told reporters after opening a workshop on flood disaster management, here today.
He also called the National Security Council to ensure proper coordination in relief efforts.
Azmi added that contributions must be channelled through the Social Welfare Department and not to be distributed directly to evacuation centres.
