A moderate earthquake of 5.7 magnitude struck southern Sumatra in Indonesia at 7.52 pm yesterday, the meteorological department said.

A moderate earthquake of 5.7 magnitude on the Richter scale struck southern Sumatra in Indonesia at 7.52 pm today, the Malaysian Meteorological Department said.

It said in a statement that the epicentre of the quake was 120 km northwest of Bengkulu, Indonesia, and 617 km southwest of Johor.
