Like hot pisang goreng, tickets for the Malaysia Cup final between Terengganu and Negeri Sembilan were sold out in two hours, leaving disappointed Terengganu supporters in a lurch.
Terengganu football supporters and fans were reportedly crowding the compound of the Terengganu Football Association (TFA) office located at the back of Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium, as early as 8am.
However, many were left frustrated when told the tickets were all sold out after patiently waiting for so long. There was commotion when several supporters voiced their dissatisfaction with the TFA’s ticket sale system.
Earlier, Turtles squad supporters were excited to get tickets for the final match to be held at Shah Alam Stadium when the state government announced giving discounts to 30,000 tickets.
From the total, 500 tickets were distributed for sale in 32 state and eight parliamentary constituencies in Terengganu.
A Terengganu supporter, Mohd Khairil Irwan, 26, from Padang Hiliran, said he was disappointed as he failed to get a ticket despite lining up since early Wednesday morning.
He did not expect the 30,000 tickets to be sold out in two hours when there was still a long queue.
“However, I would try to get a ticket in Shah Alam although the price is RM50, as I want to be at the historic match,” he said.
TFA vice-president Sheikh Tajudin Sheikh Yusoff when contacted, admitted that all tickets had been sold Wednesday morning.
“What is left with us now is the portion of tickets for four state constituencies and if they do not take them by 10am tomorrow, we will sell them,” he said.
State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Rozi Mamat said the problem of insufficient tickets for Terengganu football fans and supporters was somewhat expected as Terengganu was given a quota of only 30,000 tickets.
However, he promised to find ways to enable more fans to watch the final in Shah Alam.
