Police will beef up their members to patrol “Little India” ( Brickfields) in conjunction with Deepavali, said city police chief Mohmad Salleh.
He said the crime rate in the area was under control with 200 policemen on the ground to patrol the area.
“During Deepavali, we hope the crime rate at hotspots such as this one will be under control. Our presence in the place will also give confidence to those shopping here,” he said after a walk-about at the Deepavali bazaar in Brickfields tonight.
He hoped the patrols would ensure traders conduct their business without problems of crime and this would increase the number of visitors to ‘Little India’.
