The police force of Ibu Pejabat Daerah (IPD) Polis Johor Bahru Selatan has decided to team up with the Army (Angkatan Tentera Malaysia) Batalion 10, Kem Majidee, to increase patrols at designated high risk areas.
According to the Chief Police Officer of IPD, Johor Bahru Selatan, Zainuddin Yaacob, the beginning stages of the project kicks off from Balai Polis Taman Setia Indah, followed by Balai Polis Taman Pelangi Indah.
Each patrol team will consist two policemen and army personnel, who will be on patrol duty from 8am to 5pm.
The pioneer project will involve eight army personnel and 16 policemen, on police MPVs and motorcycles, while on duty.
According to Zainuddin, the project is in line with the Police National Strategy Execution Summit National Blue Ocean Strategy II, to fight the crime in the region.
The police, however, hope that the public will work towards increasing their own safety awareness and work with the police, mainly by providing information on suspicious activities.
Meanwhile the Ibu Pejabat Daerah Daerah Seri Alam, has also launched the Police and Army collaboration at Balai Polis Johor Jaya. According to the army spokesman of Kem Majidee, Captain Rozaid Badruzaman, this project fosters a good working relationship between the police and the army for the peace and public security.
In total, three areas in Johor Bahru, namely Taman Setia Indah, Taman Pelangi Indah and Taman Johor Jaya, will be patrolled.
